Favorite FHE Games

Murder in the Dark – Get small slips of paper and write each player’s name on each slip of paper. Write IT on one of the papers and put the slips into a bowl or some sort of container. Everyone sits in a circle on chairs and holds hands. Everyone looks away until you say, “Go” or “Start.” The person who is it winks at someone (who dies dramatically, trying not to get caught doing “the crime.” If the person it doesn’t get caught by the end of the round, they win. If someone guesses wrong they must dramatically die.

Gospel Says - it is like Simon Says except you ask the players to do things that are in the scriptures.

Tithing Tag - One person is "bishop". The bishop goes out of the room, and everyone else chooses someone to hide a penny. The bishop comes in when the penny is hidden, and the bishop finds the penny, and tries to guess who hid the penny. if he guesses right, the person who hid the penny is bishop. (This game works great with a tithing lesson.)

Button, Button, Who Has the Button?
- Let's play button button who has the button. All you need is a button. Everybody sits in a circle. One person in the middle is 'IT'. The button gets passed around in a concealed manner. Of course, one person must hold onto the button without passing it. The others must pretend they are passing it. After all have passed (or not) 'IT' must point out the person with the button. That person becomes 'IT'.

Who Am I?
- Everybody has a sticker of a Biblical character name on the back of their shirt. Everyone has to ask different questions to figure out who they are. -

Don't Eat Pete

Place one M&M in each square of the game board. Send one person away from the game
board, then choose which M&M will be 'Pete' for the round. Have the person come back
and begin picking M&M's from the game board. As soon as the person tries to pick 'Pete'
everyone else yells "Don't Eat Pete!" The person keeps all the M&M's picked up before
trying to get Pete. Refill the game board and play again with the next child.

Sardines - A Great Idea for a Family Home Evening Game

How to Play

Step 1
Declare the boundaries where kids can hide ("only in our backyard" or "only in the basement").

Step 2
Choose one child to be It. He hides while the rest of the group counts slowly to 20 (or higher).

Step 3
The players then split up to search independently for whoever's It. When a seeker finds him, he or she joins It in the hiding place, trying to stay as quiet as possible. (Ideally the hiding place should be somewhere that will just barely accommodate all players, and as others find It and crowd in, the silent squeeze becomes tighter — and sillier.)

Step 4
When the last person finds the hiding place, the game's over, and play resumes with the last person as It.

Most fun with:

* A yard with trees, or a big house
* Four or more players
* Kids ages 2 and up
